About Mrs. Artz

Art is a place for children to learn to trust their ideas, themselves, and to explore what is possible. Maryann F. Kohl

Hello Lakeridge artists and families! I'm Anna Artz (yep, that's my real name), and I'm so thrilled to be your art teacher again this school year.

This is my tenth year teaching at Lakeridge, and my fourth year as the K-5 Art Specialist. This year I'm also teaching art part time at Islander Middle School, but in the past I've also taught 5th grade, PE, math learning support, and was a 504 coordinator!

I believe that the habits and mindsets students build through art-making are vital to not just their education, but to their wholeness as a person. I work hard to ensure the art classroom is a welcoming place for all Lakeridge artists to engage, persist, express, reflect, and explore!

Outside of school, I maintain my own studio practice as a painter, exhibiting when I can and participating in my local art community. I live in Shoreline with my husband and our daughters (7 and 4 years old), and am so happy to call Lakeridge my home away from home.
